Cover Supervisor - Secondary School in Rushcliffe

Location: Rushcliffe, Nottinghamshire

A high-achieving secondary school in Nottinghamshire with a Good Ofsted rating is looking for a proactive Cover Supervisor to oversee classes across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Celebrated by Ofsted for its strong pastoral support and clear behaviour management systems, this school offers an excellent environment for an experienced cover supervisor or a graduate eager to build classroom leadership experience prior to teacher training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead classes during temporary teacher absences, executing pre-set lesson plans effectively.

  • Maintain an orderly, structured, and productive learning environment in line with school policies.

  • Assist pupils with understanding their tasks and keeping them focused on independent work.

  • Collect completed classwork and leave detailed written handovers for returning staff.

  • Carry out administrative duties, exam invigilation, or small-group cover during non-teaching periods.

This position provides valuable practical experience alongside access to comprehensive ongoing training covering safeguarding, SEND support, and classroom management strategies. Candidates should hold a university degree, higher education qualification, or HLTA status, alongside prior experience working with teenagers in youth work, coaching, or tutoring settings. Clear communication, confidence, and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service are essential.
