Joining a collaborative, forward-thinking team, you will deliver compelling lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Computer Science / Cambridge IGCSE / iMedia), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Computer Science / BTEC IT), equipping young coders and future technologists with the computational problem-solving, project management, and analytical skills demanded by top universities and the global tech sector.
Environment: A highly resourced independent school campus featuring high-spec computing suites, dedicated robotics labs, dual-monitor programming workstations, cloud-based IDEs, and small class sizes
Culture: A university-preparatory, innovation-driven learning community focused on digital creativity, ethical tech use, practical coding projects, and driving top-tier academic outcomes
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver academically rich, practical ICT and Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 covering high-level programming (e.g., Python, Java, C#), web development, network infrastructure, database systems, and data representation.
Prepare GCSE, IGCSE, and A-Level candidates thoroughly for written theory examinations and practical programming projects through structured code reviews, syntax workshops, and data-driven progress tracking.
Foster a collaborative, problem-solving lab environment where algorithmic experimentation, debugging resilience, and ethical technology practices are actively championed.
Track, evaluate, and monitor student progress systematically, executing targeted extension activities to stretch ambitious coders targeting software engineering, AI, or cyber defense degree pathways while scaffolding core digital skills for developing learners.
Contribute actively to the school’s digital co-curricular ecosystem, including competitive robotics clubs, hackathons, ethical hacking societies, app development challenges, and esports leagues.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential (independent school experience or PGCE preferred).
A strong academic degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding ICT and Computer Science instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level Computer Science teaching capability is highly desirable).
Strong practical proficiency in text-based programming languages (primarily Python), database manipulation (SQL), and thorough working knowledge of national/international examination board specifications (e.g., OCR, AQA, Edexcel, Cambridge IGCSE).
Exceptional technical presence, strong analytical communication skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for digital technology and emerging computational trends.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Independent School Salary Scale (above national pay spine, commensurate with technical expertise and teaching experience).
Independent Schools Pension Scheme / TPS option, generous fee remission for staff children, small class sizes, complimentary daily dining, structured continuous professional development (CPD), and access to extensive campus sports and wellbeing facilities.
