About the Role
Stepping into the department for an immediate start, you will deliver high-rigor, engaging learning experiences across core humanities disciplines—primarily History, Geography, and Religious Studies/Ethics. Joining a collaborative, highly supportive team, you will teach across Key Stage 3 and deliver your specialist discipline at Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and potentially Key Stage 5 (A-Level / Level 3), equipping young minds with the evaluative skills, source analysis, essay-writing precision, and global perspective vital for higher education and civic engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver academically rigorous, engaging Humanities lessons across Key Stage 3 (History, Geography, RE) and Key Stage 4/5 within your main subject specialism.
Prepare GCSE candidates thoroughly for national written examinations through explicit modeling of analytical essay structure, source evaluation, cartographic skills, and data-driven progress tracking.
Cultivate an inclusive, inquiry-led classroom culture where historical debates, geographical phenomena, and contemporary ethical dilemmas are critically explored.
Track, evaluate, and monitor student progress systematically, executing targeted interventions to stretch high-aspiring humanities scholars while scaffolding core literacy and analytical skills for developing learners.
Contribute actively to departmental enrichment, including geography fieldwork, history trips, model United Nations, debate societies, and local heritage projects.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
A strong academic degree in History, Geography, Religious Studies, Philosophy, Politics, or a closely related humanities discipline.
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding Humanities instruction at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level teaching capability in your specialism is highly desirable).
Thorough knowledge of national examination board specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel, OCR) across humanities subjects and evidence-informed teaching practices.
Outstanding classroom presence, strong analytical and written communication skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for investigating the human story, global environments, and ethical frameworks.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Outer London Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS Outer London, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities for subject coordinators or key stage leads.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured mentoring pathways, and access to staff health and wellbeing programs.
