ROLE DESCRIPTION

A dynamic secondary school in Ealing is seeking a reliable and proactive Site Supervisor to join their facilities and premises team ASAP. In this essential operational role, you will be responsible for the security, safety, maintenance, and overall physical environment of the school grounds and buildings. Working under the guidance of the Business Manager, you will manage day-to-day premises operations, oversee health and safety compliance, carry out general repairs, and supervise cleaning and maintenance staff to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for all pupils and staff.

DUTIES

• Manage premises security across the school campus, including daily opening and locking procedures, alarm management, and keyholding duties.

• Conduct routine statutory health and safety checks, including fire alarm testing, emergency lighting checks, water hygiene monitoring, and playground inspection logs.

• Perform routine maintenance, minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, and basic repairs across school buildings, classrooms, and facilities.

• Supervise cleaning and caretaking staff, managing shift schedules, chemical inventories (COSHH), and ensuring high standards of cleanliness throughout the school site.

• Coordinate with external contractors, service technicians, and local authority inspectors for specialist maintenance, building repairs, and annual safety certifications.

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience in site supervision, premises management, facility maintenance, or caretaking within a school, college, or large public sector facility.

• Practical knowledge of general building maintenance, trade skills, and health and safety regulations (including COSHH, fire safety, and manual handling).

• Strong communication, organizational, and team leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

• Willingness to participate in a flexible shift rota, including early morning openings, late evening locking, and occasional emergency out-of-hours call-outs.

• Legal right to work in the UK.

SALARY

• Paid on the Local Government Pay Scale (Outer London), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
