A well-established secondary school in Oldham is looking to recruit a passionate English Teacher to join its dedicated English department. The school is seeking an individual who can inspire students to explore literature, develop their writing abilities and become confident communicators.

The successful candidate will teach English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering a varied programme that encourages students to engage with different texts, develop their analytical skills and express their ideas effectively. The school is keen to hear from teachers who can create a positive classroom atmosphere while maintaining high academic expectations.

English Teacher – Role and Responsibilities

  • Teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4.

  • Deliver lessons covering novels, poetry, plays and non-fiction texts.

  • Develop students' reading comprehension and written communication skills.

  • Encourage critical analysis and independent interpretation of literature.

  • Prepare pupils for GCSE English examinations.

  • Assess written work and provide clear, actionable feedback.

  • Support students who require additional literacy development.

  • Differentiate lessons to accommodate a range of learning abilities.

  • Contribute to departmental planning and whole-school literacy initiatives.

Salary
