An academically ambitious secondary school in Harpenden is seeking a History Teacher for September 2027. This opportunity would suit a knowledgeable practitioner who can inspire historical curiosity, encourage independent enquiry and help students develop strong analytical and evaluative skills.

The Role

  • Teach History across KS3 and KS4, with potential KS5 responsibilities.

  • Deliver lessons covering historical periods, significant events and interpretations.

  • Develop source analysis and evidence-based argument.

  • Prepare examination groups for GCSE and potentially A-Level assessments.

  • Contribute to enrichment activities and curriculum planning.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has excellent historical subject knowledge.

  • Can encourage thoughtful discussion and independent learning.

  • Has high expectations of student achievement.

  • Is keen to contribute to departmental development.
