A welcoming school in Tiverton is looking for a Catering Supervisor to help manage its daily catering operation.

The school provides meals for pupils and staff throughout the school day and recognises the importance of nutritious food, good service and a safe dining environment. The successful candidate will help ensure that meals are prepared and served efficiently while maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer service.

This is a hands-on role with supervisory responsibilities, ideal for someone who enjoys working in catering and is confident supporting a team.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll help coordinate the daily kitchen operation, ensuring that food preparation, service and cleaning are completed safely and efficiently.

Your duties will include:

• Supervising and supporting kitchen staff during food preparation and service.

• Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals.

• Ensuring food hygiene and health and safety procedures are followed.

• Monitoring food stock, deliveries and kitchen supplies.

• Supporting menu planning and portion control.

• Maintaining accurate food safety and temperature records.

• Ensuring kitchen and dining areas are clean and organised.

• Managing dietary requirements and allergen information carefully.

• Supporting the smooth running of lunchtime service.

• Reporting equipment issues and ensuring kitchen resources are maintained.

What we’re looking for

Candidates should have previous catering or kitchen experience, ideally with some supervisory responsibility.

A food hygiene qualification would be advantageous, alongside an understanding of food safety, allergen management and kitchen health and safety procedures.

School catering experience is desirable, particularly familiarity with serving children and managing busy lunchtime periods.

An enhanced DBS check will be required.
