A forward-thinking, high-achieving secondary school and Sixth Form in Greater Manchester is seeking an articulate, enterprising, and analytical Teacher of Business & Economics to join their prestigious Social Sciences & Commercial Enterprise faculty. Situated within a powerhouse city known for its rapid economic growth, tech sector boom, and corporate innovation, this dual-specialist post offers an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious educator—whether an experienced practitioner eager to teach KS5 A-Level and Vocational courses or an ambitious Early Career Teacher (ECT)—to build market literacy, commercial strategy, and financial acumen across a high-aspiring student body.
About the Role
As a Teacher of Business & Economics, you will bridge the gap between commercial strategy and global economic theory. Joining a collaborative, career-focused department, you will deliver compelling, high-rigor lessons across Key Stage 4 (GCSE Business / GCSE Economics) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Economics, A-Level Business, and Level 3 Vocational/BTEC Business), equipping young adults with the evaluative skills, financial literacy, and quantitative reasoning necessary for top university courses, degree apprenticeships, and modern corporate careers.
Environment: A progressive Northern hub secondary campus featuring digital business labs, financial news streaming resources, interactive suites, and active connections to North West enterprise hubs and university economic faculties
Culture: A career-oriented, intellectually vibrant academic environment focused on real-world case studies, contemporary market disruptions, quantitative analysis, and driving outstanding Sixth Form progression outcomes
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver academically rigorous, engaging lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5 covering micro/macroeconomics, global trade, market structures, corporate strategy, marketing, and business finance.
Prepare GCSE, A-Level, and vocational candidates thoroughly for written examinations and portfolio assessments through explicit modeling of evaluation essays, data-response questions, and quantitative economic calculations.
Integrate current regional and global economic developments (e.g., inflation policy, corporate ethics, supply chain dynamics, Manchester's commercial growth) into daily teaching to foster critical debate.
Track, evaluate, and monitor pupil progress systematically, executing targeted support to stretch ambitious scholars targeting Russell Group business and economics programs while scaffolding complex financial models for developing learners.
Contribute actively to departmental enrichment, including student enterprise schemes (e.g., Young Enterprise), national financial literacy challenges, mock trading competitions, and corporate workplace visits.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in Economics, Business Management, Finance, Commercial Law, or a closely related quantitative social science.
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding instruction across both Business Studies and Economics at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (experience with both academic A-Level and vocational BTEC/CTEC courses is highly desirable).
Thorough knowledge of national examination board specifications (e.g., Edexcel, AQA, OCR, Pearson BTEC) across both subject areas.
Exceptional classroom presence, strong analytical communication skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for economic debate, business innovation, and student success.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: National Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS England, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities available for Key Stage 5 Enterprise Lead, Vocational Business Lead, or Economics Coordinator.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured leadership mentoring, and access to staff health and wellbeing programs.
