About the Role
As a Teacher of Economics, you will bring real-world fiscal policy, market mechanics, international trade dynamics, and behavioral economics to life for young adult learners. Joining a highly collaborative, data-literate department, you will deliver compelling, high-rigor lessons primarily across Key Stage 4 (GCSE Economics / Business) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Economics / Level 3 Vocational Business), equipping students with the critical evaluation tools, quantitative reasoning, and economic literacy necessary for top university destinations and global career pathways.
Environment: A modern Inner London secondary campus featuring digital business labs, financial news streaming terminals, interactive presentation suites, and strong links to London corporate partnerships and university economics faculties
Culture: A high-standard, intellectually vibrant academic environment focused on debate, contemporary real-world case studies, data analysis, and driving outstanding Sixth Form progression outcomes
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver academically rigorous, engaging Economics lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5 covering microeconomic theory, macroeconomic policy, market failure, international finance, and quantitative economics.
Prepare GCSE and A-Level candidates thoroughly for national written examination papers through explicit modeling of 25-mark evaluation essays, data response questions, and quantitative economic calculations.
Integrate current global economic affairs (e.g., inflation trends, monetary policy changes, global supply chains) into the curriculum to foster real-world context and sharp analytical debate.
Track, evaluate, and monitor student progress systematically, executing targeted intervention strategies to stretch high-aspiring economists targeting Russell Group/Oxbridge courses while scaffolding complex models for developing learners.
Contribute actively to departmental enrichment, including the Student Economics Society, Young Enterprise initiatives, mock trading competitions, and university lecture visits.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in Economics, Finance, Econometrics, Business Economics, or a closely related quantitative social science.
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding Economics instruction across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Economics teaching experience is essential).
In-depth knowledge of national Economics examination board specifications (e.g., Edexcel, AQA, OCR) and quantitative data handling methods.
Exceptional classroom presence, strong analytical communication skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for economic debate and real-world policy analysis.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Inner London Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS Inner London, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities available for Key Stage 5 Economics Coordination, Social Sciences Lead, or Enterprise Lead.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured leadership mentoring, and access to staff health and wellbeing programs.
