Are you a knowledgeable History specialist who can develop students' curiosity about the past and challenge them to think critically about historical evidence?

A humanities-focused secondary academy in Leiston is seeking a History Teacher to join its department in January 2027. The school is looking for someone who can deliver engaging lessons and support students in developing the analytical skills required for academic success.

The Role

  • Specialist Teaching: Deliver History across KS3 and KS4, with possible KS5 teaching depending on experience.

  • Historical Knowledge: Cover significant historical periods, events, individuals and interpretations.

  • Analytical Development: Build students' source evaluation, chronological understanding and extended writing.

  • Examination Coaching: Prepare GCSE and sixth-form students for assessments.

  • Enrichment: Support educational visits, historical projects and wider humanities activities.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has a strong academic background in History.

  • Demonstrates excellent subject knowledge and an engaging teaching style.

  • Can encourage debate, independent enquiry and evidence-based reasoning.

  • Is committed to collaborative curriculum development.
