A comprehensive secondary school in Shefford is looking to appoint an English Teacher to support its department with immediate effect. This opportunity would suit an adaptable practitioner who can deliver well-planned lessons, maintain consistent classroom standards and support students preparing for their GCSE examinations.

The Role

  • Teaching Responsibilities: Deliver English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4.

  • Literary Study: Teach a variety of novels, poetry, plays and non-fiction texts.

  • Examination Support: Develop students' written analysis, comprehension and examination confidence.

  • Assessment: Mark work, provide feedback and identify pupils requiring additional support.

  • Classroom Continuity: Maintain established routines and ensure students remain engaged throughout the assignment.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has strong English subject knowledge.

  • Can manage classes effectively and maintain positive learning environments.

  • Is confident differentiating lessons for a range of abilities.

  • Can begin a new position at short notice.

The school has an established English department with shared planning materials and a supportive approach to staff development. The successful teacher will receive guidance on schemes of work and departmental expectations to help them settle into the role quickly.
