A school with technology at the heart of learning

A forward-thinking secondary school in Taunton is looking for a skilled IT Network and Systems Technician to join its in-house IT team.

The school relies on technology across classrooms, offices and specialist learning spaces, making this a varied role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, maintaining infrastructure and helping users get the most out of their systems.

What you’ll be working on

  • Maintaining the school’s network, servers and IT infrastructure.

  • Providing first- and second-line technical support.

  • Troubleshooting hardware, software and connectivity issues.

  • Installing and configuring computers, laptops and printers.

  • Supporting Windows environments, Microsoft 365 and user accounts.

  • Assisting with network security, backups and system updates.

  • Maintaining IT inventory and documenting technical issues.

  • Supporting technology upgrades and new equipment installations.

What you’ll need

  • Previous IT support or network technician experience.

  • Good understanding of Windows, Microsoft 365 and networking.

  • Experience with Active Directory or similar user management systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and a patient approach to user support.

Previous school IT experience is highly desirable.

An enhanced DBS check will be required in line with the role.
