About the Role

The successful candidate will deliver engaging Sociology lessons, encouraging students to explore social structures, institutions, inequality and contemporary social issues. You will create a stimulating classroom environment that promotes discussion, independent thinking and the development of strong analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Sociology lessons across KS4 and KS5.

• Teach topics including families, education, research methods, crime and deviance, and social stratification.

• Encourage students to critically evaluate sociological theories and apply them to real-world examples.

• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.

• Prepare students for examinations through effective revision and assessment strategies.

• Adapt teaching to support different learning needs and abilities.

• Contribute to curriculum planning and wider departmental development.

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

• Has strong subject knowledge in Sociology.

• Can deliver thought-provoking lessons that encourage debate and critical thinking.

• Demonstrates effective classroom management and communication skills.

• Is committed to raising attainment and supporting students' academic development.
