ROLE DESCRIPTION

A dedicated secondary school in Dudley is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Design & Technology Teacher to join their practical subjects faculty ASAP. In this full-time role, you will deliver engaging D&T lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE), inspiring students across core technical domains such as Resistant Materials, Product Design, Graphics, or Systems & Control. You will guide students through the design process from initial concept sketching to workshop fabrication, promoting safe working habits and fostering innovation. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers are equally encouraged to apply.

DUTIES

• Plan, deliver, and assess practical and theoretical Design & Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in line with National Curriculum and GCSE exam board specifications.

• Maintain strict health and safety standards in workshops and machinery areas in accordance with CLEAPSS and school safety policies.

• Guide pupils through design portfolios, CAD/CAM applications, material properties, and hands-on tool usage for GCSE coursework and examination prep.

• Differentiate learning activities to support pupils of all abilities including those with additional learning needs while stretching high-attaining pupils.

• Collaborate with department colleagues and workshop technicians to manage equipment, stock materials, and refine schemes of work.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor degree in Design & Technology, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a closely related discipline.

• Recognized UK teaching qualification with QTS or QTLS.

• Proven teaching experience or strong placement record in secondary Design & Technology with strong workshop safety awareness.

• Excellent classroom and workshop management, communication, and organizational skills.

• Legal right to work in the UK.

SALARY

• Paid on the national Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale (MPS / UPS) commensurate with experience.
