About the Role
As a Teacher of French, you will transform grammatical structures, phonetics, authentic literary texts, and conversational mastery into engaging, communicative learning experiences. Joining a collaborative and forward-thinking MFL department, you will deliver high-rigor lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE French), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level French & Francophone Studies), empowering students to navigate and connect with the wider world with confidence and cultural sensitivity.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver immersive, academically rigorous French lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 that build listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency alongside robust grammatical foundations.
Prepare GCSE and A-Level candidates thoroughly for national written examinations and oral speaking assessments through structured vocabulary acquisition, mock speaking trials, and live exam coaching.
Champion target-language use in the classroom, weaving Francophone culture, cinema, history, and current affairs into daily instruction to foster genuine cross-cultural curiosity.
Track, evaluate, and monitor student progress systematically, implementing targeted intervention strategies to stretch high-aspiring linguists while scaffolding core structures for developing learners.
Contribute positively to departmental enrichment, such as French breakfast clubs, European Day of Languages events, foreign film screenings, and university language taster sessions.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in French, Modern Foreign Languages, Translation, or a closely related discipline (native or near-native fluency in French is essential).
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding French instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level French teaching experience is highly desirable).
Thorough knowledge of national MFL examination board specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas) and communicative language teaching methodologies.
Outstanding classroom presence, exceptional spoken/written communication skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for linguistic inquiry and international culture.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Inner London Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS Inner London, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities available for Key Stage MFL Coordination or MFL Curriculum Lead.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured mentoring, and access to staff health and wellbeing programs.
