PE & Sports Coach – Secondary School - Sheffield, South Yorkshire

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive sports coaching sessions across a range of activities, including football, netball, basketball, athletics, and general fitness.

  • Support qualified PE teachers in delivering practical Physical Education lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Plan and lead extracurricular sports clubs, enrichment activities, and structured fitness programmes to encourage wider pupil participation.

  • Assist with organising school sports fixtures, tournaments, inter-school competitions, and sporting events.

  • Promote teamwork, discipline, resilience, and positive behaviour through structured physical activities and sports coaching.

  • Monitor pupils' physical development, sporting progress, and engagement, providing constructive feedback and adapting activities to suit different abilities.

Candidate Requirements

  • A recognised sports coaching qualification, Level 2 or above, or a relevant qualification in Physical Education, Sports Science, or Sports Development.

  • Previous experience coaching or supporting secondary-aged pupils within a school, sports club, or youth development setting.

  • Strong knowledge of a range of sporting activities, coaching techniques, physical fitness, and safe sports participation.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate, engage, and inspire pupils of varying sporting abilities.

  • An enhanced DBS check with the appropriate barred list check (or willingness to undergo the required checks), alongside a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
