A values-driven secondary academy in Bedford is seeking an RE Teacher for a permanent part-time appointment from September 2027. The school is looking for someone who can encourage students to explore religious beliefs, examine ethical questions and develop thoughtful, well-supported opinions.

The Role

  • Teach RE across KS3 and KS4.

  • Deliver lessons covering religious traditions, ethics and philosophy.

  • Develop students' evaluation and extended writing skills.

  • Encourage respectful debate and independent thinking.

  • Contribute to assessment and curriculum planning.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has strong subject knowledge across the RE curriculum.

  • Can facilitate balanced and respectful discussions.

  • Uses effective strategies to engage different learners.

  • Is interested in a permanent 0.8 FTE position.

The academy promotes inclusion, respect and strong academic foundations. The humanities department offers collaborative planning and a supportive environment for teachers to contribute to curriculum development.
