An innovative, tech-forward secondary school and Sixth Form in the creative and technological hub of Hackney (Inner London) is seeking a sharp, forward-thinking, and dynamic Teacher of Computer Science & ICT to join their high-performing Digital Media & STEM faculty. Situated near East London's vibrant Tech City ecosystem, this is a premier opportunity for a digital specialist—whether an experienced practitioner eager to teach advanced A-Level computer science and vocational ICT modules or an ambitious Early Career Teacher (ECT)—to inspire computational thinking, software development, and digital literacy across an inquisitive student body.
About the Role
As a Teacher of Computer Science & ICT, you will bridge the gap between theoretical computing principles, practical software engineering, and modern digital applications. Joining a collaborative and well-resourced department, you will deliver high-rigor, hands-on lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Computer Science & Cambridge National / BTEC IT), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Computer Science & Level 3 Digital Media/IT), equipping students with the programming, cybersecurity, and technological skills required for the modern digital economy.
Environment: A state-of-the-art Inner London secondary school equipped with high-spec computer suites, dual-boot developer environments, robotics kit, cloud-based learning infrastructure, and strong connections to London tech firms
Culture: A collaborative, digital-first learning culture where creative problem-solving, ethical technology use, coding projects, and academic achievement are celebrated
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver academically rich, practical computing and ICT lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 that build programming logic (e.g., Python, JavaScript, SQL), algorithmic thinking, data representation, and ICT systems architecture.
Prepare GCSE, A-Level, and vocational candidates thoroughly for written examinations, practical coding projects (NEA), and coursework portfolios using data-driven tracking and diagnostic feedback routines.
Integrate real-world technology developments—including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud architecture, and web development—into daily instruction.
Track, evaluate, and monitor student progress, implementing targeted interventions to stretch high-aspiring programmers while scaffolding fundamental digital skills for developing learners.
Contribute positively to department enrichment, such as game development clubs, hackathons, Bebras Computational Thinking challenges, CyberFirst competitions, and tech industry mentoring.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a closely related quantitative/computing discipline.
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering high-quality Computer Science and ICT instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level Computer Science teaching experience is highly desirable).
Practical proficiency in high-level programming languages (predominantly Python) alongside thorough knowledge of examination board specifications (e.g., OCR, AQA, Edexcel, Pearson BTEC).
Inspiring classroom presence, strong live-coding/demonstration skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for digital technology and computer engineering.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Inner London Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS Inner London, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities available for Computer Science Key Stage Leadership, E-Learning Coordination, or Digital Strategy.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured mentoring, and access to staff health and wellbeing programs.
