This is an outstanding opportunity for a dedicated numeracy specialist—whether an experienced educator looking to teach advanced A-Level Pure Maths, Mechanics, or Statistics, or an ambitious Early Career Teacher (ECT)—to cultivate logical reasoning, problem-solving mastery, and mathematical confidence across a diverse, energetic student body.
About the Role
As a Teacher of Mathematics, you will transform abstract numerical principles, algebraic structures, and geometric theorems into engaging, accessible, and practical learning experiences. Joining a collaborative and data-informed Mathematics department, you will deliver high-rigor lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Mathematics & Further Maths), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Mathematics / Further Mathematics), equipping pupils with the critical quantitative tools required for academic success, STEM degrees, and future careers.
Environment: A modern Inner London secondary school featuring state-of-the-art digital classrooms, interactive learning platforms, graphical visualization tools, and strong links to London’s financial and technology hubs
Culture: A supportive, well-resourced department where shared curriculum planning, instructional coaching, evidence-informed teaching practices, and pupil achievement are prioritized
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver academically rich, engaging Mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 that build conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and complex problem-solving skills.
Prepare GCSE and A-Level candidates thoroughly for national written examinations using data-driven progress tracking, live modelling, and targeted exam technique workshops.
Embed real-world applications of mathematics—from financial modeling and data science to engineering and physics—into daily classroom instruction.
Track, evaluate, and monitor student progress systematically, implementing tailored intervention routines to stretch high-aspiring mathematicians while scaffolding core concepts for developing learners.
Contribute positively to departmental enrichment, such as UKMT Maths Challenge coaching, numeracy clubs, STEM initiatives, and university application guidance for quantitative degree pathways.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering high-quality Mathematics instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level Mathematics teaching experience is highly desirable).
Thorough knowledge of national Mathematics examination board specifications (e.g., Edexcel, AQA, OCR) and tiering strategies.
Outstanding classroom presence, strong blackboard/digital modeling skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for mathematical inquiry and problem-solving.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Inner London Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS Inner London, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities available for Key Stage Coordination, Further Maths Lead, or Numeracy Lead.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured mentoring, and access to staff health and wellbeing programs.
