About the Role
As a Teacher of Geography, you will bring physical processes, geopolitics, environmental change, and spatial analysis to life in the classroom. Joining an energetic and collaborative department, you will deliver high-rigor theoretical and fieldwork-based lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Geography), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Geography), equipping pupils with the critical inquiry, GIS mapping, and analytical skills needed for modern global citizenship.

Culture: A supportive, well-resourced Humanities department characterized by shared digital schemes of learning, active fieldwork trips, and visionary leadership
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver academically rich, engaging Geography lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 that build deep spatial awareness, environmental understanding, and data evaluation skills.
Prepare GCSE and A-Level candidates thoroughly for national written examinations and skills-based assessments using data-driven progress tracking and diagnostic exam feedback routines.
Lead and facilitate curriculum-linked fieldwork excursions, integrating local London urban case studies alongside global environmental issues.
Track, evaluate, and monitor student progress, implementing targeted intervention strategies to stretch high achievers while scaffolding complex geographical data and extended writing for developing learners.
Contribute positively to department enrichment, such as Model UN, Eco-Schools sustainability initiatives, geography clubs, and external lecture series.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a closely related discipline.
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding Geography instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level Geography teaching experience is highly desirable).
Thorough knowledge of national Geography examination board specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel, OCR) and fieldwork requirements.
Outstanding classroom presence, strong spatial/quantitative skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for physical and human geography.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Inner London Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS Inner London, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities available for Humanities Key Stage Leadership or Sustainability Coordination.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured mentoring pathways, and access to staff health and wellbeing programs.
