Opportunity to teach an engaging subject within a supportive Humanities and Social Sciences team
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Sociology Teacher to join their school in Ipswich from January. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys exploring social issues, encouraging thoughtful discussion and helping students develop a deeper understanding of the society in which they live.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Sociology lessons at the appropriate key stages, with a focus on developing students' understanding of social structures, institutions, culture, identity, education, families and wider social change. You will be expected to plan lessons that encourage students to question assumptions, evaluate different perspectives and develop the analytical skills needed to succeed in the subject.
Sociology offers students the opportunity to engage with relevant issues and consider how society influences individual experiences. The school is therefore looking for someone who can bring topics to life through contemporary examples, structured debate, independent research and well-planned classroom activities.
You should be confident supporting students with essay writing, examination technique and the development of clear, evidence-based arguments. The ability to explain sociological theories and research methods in an accessible way will be particularly important.
