About the Role

As a Teacher of Biology, you will bring the natural world, human physiology, and molecular biology to life in the classroom. Joining a high-performing Science department, you will deliver high-rigor theoretical and practical lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Biology & Combined Science), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Biology), equipping pupils with the critical thinking and investigative skills necessary for higher education and healthcare, medical, and environmental STEM pathways.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver academically rich, practical-led Biology lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 that build conceptual understanding, experimental precision, and statistical analysis skills.

• Prepare GCSE and A-Level candidates thoroughly for national written examinations and required practical endorsements using data-driven progress tracking and diagnostic exam coaching.

• Integrate real-world applications of life sciences—from biomedical research and biotechnology to conservation and genetics—into daily learning.

• Track, evaluate, and monitor student progress, implementing targeted intervention routines to stretch high-aspiring scholars while scaffolding complex concepts for developing learners.

• Contribute positively to department enrichment, such as British Biology Olympiad coaching, eco-clubs, STEM initiatives, and university medicine/biomedical pathway guidance.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.

• A strong academic degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline.

• Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding Biology instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level Biology teaching experience is highly desirable).

• In-depth knowledge of national Biology examination board specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel, OCR) and practical assessment protocols.

• Outstanding classroom presence, strong live-demonstration skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for biological inquiry and scientific reasoning.
