Culture: A collaborative, well-resourced Science department supported by dedicated laboratory technicians, shared digital schemes of work, and proactive departmental leadership
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver academically rigorous, engaging Physics lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 that build conceptual understanding, mathematical fluency, and practical investigation skills.
Prepare GCSE and A-Level candidates thoroughly for national written examinations and required practical assessments using data-driven progress tracking and diagnostic exam feedback routines.
Embed real-world applications of physics, from renewable energy technology and engineering to space exploration and particle physics, into daily learning.
Track, evaluate, and monitor student progress, implementing targeted interventions to stretch high-aspiring scientists while scaffolding complex mathematical concepts for developing learners.
Contribute positively to department enrichment, such as Physics Olympiad coaching, STEM clubs, university application guidance (Oxbridge/Imperial engineering and physics pathways), and science trips.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in Physics, Astrophysics, Engineering, or a closely related physical science/quantitative discipline.
Demonstrated track record or capability of delivering high-quality Physics teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level Physics teaching experience is highly desirable).
Thorough knowledge of national Physics examination board specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel, OCR) and practical assessment endorsements.
Outstanding classroom presence, strong quantitative demonstration skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for physical science and technological innovation.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Inner London Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS Inner London, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities available for Physics Key Stage Leadership or STEM Coordination.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured onboarding, and access to staff health and wellbeing programs.
