Teacher of Business Studies – Secondary School in Salisbury (January Start)

An academically rigorous secondary school in Salisbury, Wiltshire, is seeking an engaging Teacher of Business Studies & Enterprise to join its department on a full-time, permanent basis starting in January.

Job Overview

Business Studies represents a high-uptake pathway within this school’s Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form curriculum. The successful candidate will deliver Key Stage 4 GCSE Business / Cambridge Nationals in Enterprise and Key Stage 5 A-Level Business Studies.

Working alongside the Social Sciences team, you will guide pupils through marketing strategies, operational management, financial statements, and corporate decision-making frameworks while connecting classroom theory to contemporary commercial case studies. This is a full-time, permanent contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging Business Studies and Enterprise lessons across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5

  • Train pupils in business calculations, break-even analysis, financial ratio evaluation, and 12/20-mark structured essays

  • Guide vocational and GCSE candidates through Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) portfolios and written exam preparation

  • Assess, track, and report on student progress across formal mock exams and class assignments

  • Support extra-curricular enterprise initiatives, Young Enterprise teams, and regional business challenges

  • Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor, supporting student wellbeing and personal development

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS, QTLS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)

  • Honors degree in Business Studies, Management, Enterprise, or a related commercial discipline

  • Proven ability to deliver positive GCSE and A-Level/vocational Business outcomes

  • Strong commercial awareness and clear essay/case-study mentoring capability

  • An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
