About the Opportunity

A thriving and dynamic secondary school in Leominster is looking for a proactive, hands-on School Caretaker / Site Assistant to join their dedicated facilities team.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping the school campus safe, operational, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. Working closely with the Premises Manager, you will oversee day-to-day maintenance, site security, safety compliance, and general facilities support across the grounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily opening/closing routines, arm alarms, secure entry points, and conduct routine security sweeps.

• Perform basic repairs, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general touch-ups throughout the facilities.

• Complete routine compliance checks, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, Legionella water testing, and site safety audits.

• : Set up rooms and halls for assemblies, exams, and events; handle deliveries; and maintain clean outdoor areas.

• Escort and monitor external maintenance technicians to ensure work meets safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: Background as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Facilities Officer, or skilled handyperson (school-based experience is a plus but not required).

• Skills: Strong practical DIY abilities and a working knowledge of Health & Safety standards (COSHH, manual handling, working at heights).

• Traits: Dependable, punctual, physically capable, and able to work well both independently and collaboratively.

• Vetting: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to complete a new check prior to start).
