Role Overview

A dedicated secondary school in Stourbridge is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and practical Biology Teacher to join their strong Science department ASAP. In this full-time role, you will deliver engaging, hands-on, and theoretical Biology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Biology and Combined Science), with potential opportunities to teach A-Level Biology at Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will foster scientific inquiry, guide pupils through safe laboratory practical's and microscopy work, and build student confidence across key biological principles. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers are equally encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Biology and general Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in line with National Curriculum standards and GCSE exam board specifications.

• Maintain strict laboratory health and safety protocols across all practical biological experiments and biological material handling in compliance with CLEAPSS and school guidelines.

• Differentiate learning to support pupils of all abilities, including SEND and EAL students, while challenging high-attaining pupils aiming for top GCSE and A-Level grades.

• Monitor pupil progress through formative assessments, practical evaluations, and mock exams to deliver targeted interventions and maximize student attainment.

• Work collaboratively with department colleagues and lab technicians to prepare practical equipment, refine schemes of work, and support extracurricular STEM or eco-clubs.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Science, or a closely related discipline.

• Recognized UK teaching qualification with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS.

• Proven teaching experience or strong placement record in secondary Science/Biology, with thorough knowledge of current GCSE (and ideally A-Level) frameworks and laboratory safety standards.

• Excellent classroom and laboratory management, communication, and organizational skills.

• Legal right to work in the UK.
