A secondary school in York is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed French Teacher to join its Modern Foreign Languages department. The school is seeking someone who can encourage students to develop their language skills, build confidence when communicating and gain an appreciation of French-speaking cultures.

The successful candidate will teach French across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering lessons that develop speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities. This opportunity would suit a teacher who can create an engaging learning environment and support students in making consistent progress towards their examinations.

French Teacher – Role and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging French lessons across KS3 and KS4.

• Develop students' speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

• Teach vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and sentence construction.

• Prepare pupils for GCSE assessments and examinations.

• Use interactive activities to encourage students to communicate in French.

• Introduce students to French-speaking countries and cultural traditions.

• Differentiate lessons to support students with varying abilities.

• Assess progress and provide constructive feedback.

• Encourage confidence and active participation during language activities.

• Contribute to departmental planning and the development of teaching resources.

• Effective classroom management and communication skills.

Salary

The successful candidate will be paid on the MPS1–UPS3 scale, depending on experience.
