A welcoming secondary school in Swaffham is seeking a History Teacher to provide maternity cover from January 2027. The school is looking for someone who can make historical topics engaging, encourage students to question evidence and develop their ability to construct clear, well-supported arguments.

The Role

  • Teach History across KS3 and KS4.

  • Plan lessons covering key historical periods, events and interpretations.

  • Develop students' source analysis and extended-writing skills.

  • Monitor progress and provide constructive assessment feedback.

  • Work with humanities colleagues to ensure continuity of learning.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has strong subject knowledge and a clear understanding of the History curriculum.

  • Can engage learners through discussion, enquiry and structured tasks.

  • Establishes positive relationships and consistent classroom routines.

  • Can support a smooth transition for students during the cover period.
