A values-led secondary school in Hitchin is looking to appoint an engaging RE Teacher from January 2027. The school is seeking a thoughtful educator who can help students explore different religious beliefs, ethical debates and philosophical questions while developing respect, independent judgement and well-reasoned arguments.

The Role

  • Teach Religious Education across KS3 and KS4.

  • Plan lessons that explore religious traditions, moral issues and contemporary debates.

  • Develop students' ability to compare viewpoints and support arguments with evidence.

  • Monitor progress through written work, discussion and formal assessment.

  • Work with colleagues to maintain a balanced and engaging curriculum.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has a strong understanding of the RE curriculum.

  • Can lead respectful discussions on sensitive and complex subjects.

  • Supports students with varied perspectives, backgrounds and learning needs.

  • Is committed to high standards of teaching and positive relationships.
