A well-established secondary school in Swindon is looking for a practical and reliable Design and Technology Technician to support its DT department. The successful candidate will help ensure workshops are properly equipped, materials are prepared and practical lessons can take place safely and efficiently.

About the Role

• Prepare tools, materials and equipment for practical DT lessons.

• Set up workstations and ensure resources are ready before classes.

• Maintain, organise and monitor workshop equipment and stock.

• Assist with ordering materials and checking deliveries.

• Carry out routine equipment checks and report faults.

• Maintain clean, safe and organised workshop areas.

• Follow health and safety procedures when handling tools and machinery.

• Work closely with teaching staff to support practical activities.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous DT technician, workshop or practical technical experience is essential.

• School-based technician experience is highly desirable.

• Knowledge of workshop safety and equipment maintenance.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• A practical, proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Able to work collaboratively and manage preparation deadlines.

An enhanced DBS check will be required in line with the role.
