Our client is looking to appoint an accomplished and enthusiastic Head of KS5 Mathematics to take responsibility for the development and delivery of post-16 Mathematics within a successful secondary school in Brentwood. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maths Teacher who is ready to take the next step in their career and make a significant contribution to the academic success of sixth-form students.

The successful candidate will lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of the KS5 Mathematics curriculum, ensuring that students receive high-quality teaching and are well prepared for A-level examinations and further study. You will work closely with colleagues to maintain consistency in teaching, assessment and feedback while promoting a culture of ambition, intellectual curiosity and independent learning.

A key aspect of the role will be monitoring student performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective intervention strategies. You will support students in developing advanced mathematical reasoning, analytical skills and the confidence to tackle challenging material. The successful applicant will also contribute to departmental planning, resource development and the sharing of effective teaching practice.

This position would suit an experienced A-level Mathematics specialist with strong organisational skills, excellent subject knowledge and the ability to motivate both students and colleagues. Previous responsibility for KS5 coordination or departmental leadership would be advantageous.

Experience and Qualifications

• An experienced Maths Teacher with strong knowledge of A-level Mathematics and the relevant KS5 curriculum.

• QTS and a recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE.

• A degree in Mathematics or a closely related discipline is desirable.

• Experience of coordinating KS5 Mathematics, leading a subject area or contributing to curriculum development would be advantageous.

• The ability to analyse student performance data and develop effective strategies to improve outcomes.

• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.

• A commitment to high standards of teaching, assessment and student support.

• The legal right to work in the UK.
