A forward-thinking secondary school in Basingstoke is seeking a capable Biology Laboratory Technician to support its science department. The school is looking for someone with strong practical skills who can ensure laboratories are well prepared, safe and fully equipped for practical lessons.

About the Role

• Prepare equipment, materials and resources for biology practicals.

• Set up and clear laboratory workstations before and after lessons.

• Maintain and organise laboratory equipment and supplies.

• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials.

• Follow health and safety procedures for handling, storing and disposing of materials.

• Maintain laboratory records and report faulty equipment.

• Work closely with science staff to ensure practical activities run smoothly.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous laboratory experience is essential.

• Experience as a science technician in a school or college is highly desirable.

• A relevant science qualification would be advantageous.

• Good knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Able to work collaboratively and manage preparation deadlines.

An enhanced DBS check will be required in line with the role.
