Wayman Education is seeking a committed Teacher of English for an ambitious secondary school in Birmingham. This opportunity would suit a qualified teacher who can inspire pupils, develop strong literacy skills and deliver engaging lessons across the secondary curriculum.

The School

The school aims to maintain high academic expectations while providing a supportive environment where staff can collaborate, share resources and help pupils make meaningful progress.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4.

  • Develop pupils’ reading comprehension, analytical writing, vocabulary and communication skills.

  • Prepare pupils for GCSE examinations through effective assessment and targeted intervention.

  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils with SEND, EAL and differing ability levels.

  • Monitor progress, provide constructive feedback and contribute to departmental planning.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds QTS and a relevant degree or teaching qualification in English.

  • Has experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.

  • Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and effective classroom management.

  • Can differentiate lessons and use assessment to improve pupil outcomes.

  • Is committed to safeguarding and professional development.

Salary

MPS/UPS, dependent on experience and the school's pay arrangements.
