Join a department focused on high-quality teaching and meaningful academic progress
Ideal for an engaging teacher who encourages discussion, analysis and independent thought
About the Role
Our client is looking to recruit a committed and engaging Sociology Teacher to join a school in Peterborough. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who enjoys exploring social issues and helping students develop a deeper understanding of the structures, relationships and institutions that shape modern society.
The successful candidate will deliver lessons that encourage students to examine sociological theories, consider different perspectives and evaluate evidence relating to social behaviour and social change. Depending on the school's curriculum, teaching may cover topics such as families, education, social class, inequality, crime, culture, research methods and the influence of social institutions.
The school is seeking someone who can make complex ideas accessible while maintaining academic challenge. You should be confident facilitating structured discussions, encouraging students to support arguments with evidence and helping learners develop clear, well-organised written responses.
You will contribute to curriculum planning, assessment and the preparation of learning materials. Monitoring progress and identifying areas where students require further explanation or intervention will be important in ensuring that learners develop the knowledge and examination skills needed to succeed.
The role may involve teaching across different key stages, depending on the school's provision. Applicants should be comfortable working collaboratively with colleagues and adapting their approach to suit the needs of different groups of learners.
