A successful secondary academy in Basildon is looking to appoint an enthusiastic English Teacher to join its English department. The school is seeking a practitioner who can inspire a love of reading, develop pupils’ written communication and support strong outcomes at GCSE and post-16 level.

The Role

  • Teach English Language and Literature across KS3–KS5, according to experience.

  • Plan engaging lessons that develop analytical reading, creative writing and critical thinking.

  • Prepare examination classes through structured practice and targeted feedback.

  • Monitor attainment and adapt teaching to address gaps in understanding.

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and shared departmental resources.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.

  • Can differentiate lessons to meet a range of learning needs.

  • Establishes positive classroom routines and maintains high expectations.

  • Works collaboratively to improve student progress.
