English Teacher | Full-Time | Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire | January 2027
Some teachers teach English. Others bring stories to life, spark curiosity and help young people discover the power of their own words. If you’re the kind of teacher who can turn a great novel into a lively classroom discussion or help a student find confidence in their writing, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
We’re working with a leading and renowned school in Milton Keynes to find an enthusiastic, talented and committed English Teacher to join its team from January 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a respected school that values high-quality teaching, academic achievement and the development of confident, independent learners. The school is looking for someone who can bring energy to the classroom, make English engaging and help students realise what they’re capable of.
What will your classroom look like?
As an English Teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to how students read, write, think and communicate. From exploring classic literature to analysing modern texts and developing persuasive writing, you’ll help students see that English is more than a subject on the timetable.
You’ll be responsible for:
Planning and delivering engaging English lessons that meet the needs of students across the relevant age and ability ranges.
Teaching literature, language, creative writing, comprehension and analytical skills.
Encouraging students to read widely, think critically and express their ideas with confidence.
Creating a classroom where curiosity is welcomed, questions are encouraged and every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Assessing students’ progress, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for further development.
Adapting lessons to support different learning styles, abilities and individual needs.
Preparing students for assessments and examinations, where appropriate.
Building positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents to support academic progress and personal development.
Contributing to departmental planning, curriculum development and the wider life of the school.
Maintaining high standards of behaviour, safeguarding and professional practice.
Why consider this opportunity?
Joining a leading school is about more than taking on a new teaching post. It’s an opportunity to work in an environment where your subject knowledge, teaching style and commitment to young people can have a lasting impact.
You’ll be joining an established educational community in Milton Keynes, with the opportunity to contribute your own ideas, share good practice with colleagues and help students develop skills they’ll use well beyond the classroom.
If you’re looking for a role where you can combine your passion for English with the opportunity to help students grow in confidence and ability, this could be an excellent next step in your teaching career.
Who would thrive in this role?
We’re looking for a teacher who genuinely enjoys their subject and knows how to make it accessible, relevant and inspiring for young people.
You could be an experienced English Teacher looking for a fresh challenge or an early-career teacher ready to take the next step in a supportive, high-achieving school environment.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Strong subject knowledge across English Language and English Literature.
Experience teaching English in a secondary school setting, or the ability to demonstrate the relevant skills and potential.
The ability to plan purposeful lessons that engage students and support strong academic progress.
Excellent communication skills and a confident, positive approach to classroom management.
A genuine interest in helping students develop their reading, writing and critical-thinking skills.
A flexible, reflective approach to teaching, with a willingness to share ideas and learn from colleagues.
High expectations for student achievement, alongside a commitment to inclusion and individual progress.
