Inspiring English Teacher | Full-Time | January 2027 Start | Leading School in Swindon
Bring English to life. Inspire a love of literature. Make a lasting difference.
Are you a passionate English Teacher who can bring Shakespeare to life, spark a love of reading and inspire students to discover the power of language? Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing school where ambitious teaching, academic excellence and student success go hand in hand?
We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading school in Swindon for an enthusiastic and talented English Teacher to join its dedicated team from January 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who wants to make a genuine impact in the classroom, challenge students to think beyond the obvious and help young people develop the confidence and skills to succeed. Whether exploring classic literature, analysing powerful writing or developing creative expression, you will have the opportunity to make English a subject that students remember long after they leave the classroom.
You will join a supportive and ambitious English department that values creativity, collaboration and high-quality teaching, within a school committed to helping every student reach their full potential.
The Role: Inspire, Challenge and Achieve
As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging, thought-provoking lessons that bring English Language and Literature to life. You will encourage students to question, analyse, debate and express themselves with confidence, helping them develop the essential skills needed for examinations and beyond.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering inspiring English Language and Literature lessons across the relevant Key Stages.
Bringing novels, poetry, drama and non-fiction to life through creative teaching approaches that capture students’ imaginations.
Preparing students for GCSE and/or A-Level examinations, where required, with a focus on academic progress and outstanding outcomes.
Developing confident readers, articulate writers and independent thinkers through engaging textual analysis, discussion and extended writing.
Creating a positive, inclusive classroom where students feel encouraged to contribute, take intellectual risks and achieve their best.
Using assessment and constructive feedback to identify individual needs, build confidence and accelerate progress.
Adapting teaching to stretch high-attaining students while providing appropriate support for those who need additional guidance.
Contributing to an exciting English curriculum, literacy initiatives and enrichment opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.
Why Join This School?
This is more than an opportunity to teach English. It is a chance to join a school that recognises the importance of inspiring teaching, ambitious learning and the development of confident, capable young people.
You can look forward to:
