About the Role
Our client is looking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Art Teacher to join a secondary school in Cambridge from January. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative educator who wants to inspire pupils, encourage artistic exploration and help students develop the practical skills needed to communicate ideas visually.
The successful candidate will teach Art and Design across KS3 and KS4, delivering lessons that introduce pupils to a wide range of materials, techniques and creative processes. You will help students develop observational drawing, painting, composition, mixed-media work and other relevant skills in line with the school's curriculum.
The school is looking for a teacher who can encourage pupils to think independently while providing clear demonstrations, structured guidance and constructive feedback. Students should be supported in researching artists and designers, experimenting with techniques, developing original ideas and reflecting on the progress of their work.
For GCSE classes, the successful applicant will guide pupils through portfolio development, contextual research, practical experimentation and refinement of final outcomes. You will help students organise their work, evaluate their creative decisions and develop the confidence to produce thoughtful and individual responses to project briefs.
The successful teacher will also contribute to maintaining an organised and productive art room, ensuring pupils use materials and equipment safely. The ability to adapt activities to different skill levels and encourage all pupils to participate will be essential.
