About the Role
Our client is seeking a creative, enthusiastic and committed Art Teacher to join a secondary school in Norwich from January. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about visual arts and enjoys helping young people explore their creativity, develop practical skills and express ideas through a variety of artistic media.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging Art and Design lessons across KS3 and KS4, supporting pupils as they develop drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed-media and other relevant creative techniques. Lessons should encourage experimentation, independent thinking and the confidence to explore different approaches to visual communication.
The school is looking for a teacher who can balance technical instruction with opportunities for students to develop their own artistic identity. You will guide pupils through the creative process, from initial research and experimentation to planning, refinement and the completion of finished pieces. Students should be encouraged to analyse the work of established artists and designers and use these influences to inform their own projects.
The successful applicant will also be responsible for assessing practical work, providing constructive feedback and helping pupils build portfolios that demonstrate their development. Where appropriate, you will support GCSE Art students with coursework organisation, research, annotation and preparation for externally assessed components.
This role would suit a teacher who can establish a well-organised studio environment, promote responsible use of materials and encourage students of different abilities to take pride in their creative achievements.
