Opportunity to teach Psychology at the relevant key stages
About the Role
A welcoming secondary school in Peterborough is seeking a dedicated Psychology Teacher to join its teaching team from January. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about human behaviour, cognitive development and the scientific study of the mind. The school is looking for an engaging practitioner who can encourage curiosity, develop critical thinking and help students understand how psychological research explains behaviour in different contexts.
The successful candidate will deliver structured lessons that introduce students to key psychological concepts, theories, research methods and applications. Lessons should provide opportunities for learners to consider different explanations of behaviour, evaluate evidence and understand the strengths and limitations of psychological studies.
The role will involve planning lessons that balance theoretical understanding with practical examples and research-based discussion. You will support students in developing the skills needed to interpret findings, apply terminology accurately and construct well-reasoned written responses. Where included in the school's curriculum, teaching may involve GCSE-level psychology or A-Level Psychology, depending on the timetable and the candidate's experience.
Assessment will be an important aspect of the position. The successful teacher will monitor student progress, identify misconceptions and provide clear feedback to help learners improve their knowledge and examination performance. You will also work with colleagues to ensure that teaching resources, revision activities and intervention strategies are effective.
The school is interested in hearing from experienced Psychology Teachers and suitably qualified ECTs who are enthusiastic about their subject and committed to helping students succeed.
