Role: Year 1 Class Teacher

Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience
A primary school in Ely is seeking a Year 1 Teacher to support children as they move from Reception into more structured learning. The school is looking for a teacher who can build secure foundations in literacy and mathematics while maintaining an engaging, child-centred approach.
The Role
Lead a Year 1 class and deliver the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
Plan engaging lessons in phonics, reading, writing and mathematics.
Use practical activities to strengthen understanding and independence.
Monitor progress through assessment and observation.
Work closely with teaching assistants to provide targeted support.
The Candidate
Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Understands early primary development and phonics teaching.
Can establish calm, consistent classroom routines.
Adapts teaching to suit different learning needs.
Builds positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
The Environment
The school promotes a supportive transition into formal learning, with an emphasis on confidence, curiosity and progress. The successful teacher will work within a team committed to providing a strong start to Key Stage 1.
