Are you a passionate Sociology Teacher who enjoys encouraging students to question the world around them? Our client is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic specialist to join a secondary school in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who can bring sociological concepts to life and help students develop the critical thinking skills required for academic success.
The successful candidate will teach Sociology across the relevant key stages, including GCSE and A-Level where applicable. You will deliver well-structured lessons that encourage students to examine social institutions, culture, identity, education, family life, crime and social inequality. Through discussion, debate and evidence-based activities, you will help learners understand different sociological perspectives and develop the confidence to construct balanced arguments.
The school is seeking someone who can make complex theories accessible while maintaining academic challenge. You should be able to support students in developing essay-writing skills, interpreting research and applying theoretical knowledge to contemporary social issues. Strong planning, assessment and classroom management skills will be important, alongside the ability to adapt teaching to students with different levels of prior attainment.
This role provides an opportunity to contribute to curriculum development, share resources with colleagues and help students prepare for examinations and future study in the social sciences.
