Contract: Full-Time, Maternity Cover

Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience

A secondary school in Dunstable is seeking a French Teacher to cover a planned period of maternity leave. The successful candidate will maintain continuity across language classes, build pupils’ confidence in speaking and writing French, and support progress towards GCSE examinations.

The Role

  • Teach French across KS3–KS4.

  • Deliver lessons covering speaking, listening, reading and writing.

  • Reinforce grammar, vocabulary and accurate pronunciation.

  • Assess pupils regularly and provide actionable feedback.

  • Follow departmental schemes of work and support examination preparation.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has strong French language skills and knowledge of the secondary curriculum.

  • Can establish positive relationships and maintain consistent routines.

  • Is confident differentiating lessons for pupils with varying levels of proficiency.

  • Is available to start as soon as possible.

The Environment

The school provides a structured curriculum and shared departmental resources. The appointed teacher will be supported in maintaining learning continuity throughout the cover period.
