About the School

A thriving secondary academy in Slough is seeking a practical and resourceful Design & Technology Technician to support its DT department. The school is looking for someone who can prepare materials, maintain equipment and help ensure workshops are safe, organised and ready for practical lessons.

About the Role

You will provide technical and practical support to staff, helping the department operate efficiently and safely.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing tools, materials and equipment for practical lessons.

• Maintaining workshop equipment and reporting faults or repair requirements.

• Supporting the safe storage and handling of tools and materials.

• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies.

• Keeping workshops clean, organised and compliant with health and safety procedures.

• Assisting staff with the preparation of projects, displays and practical demonstrations.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in a DT workshop, manufacturing environment or practical technical role.

• School-based technician experience is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with workshop tools, machinery and relevant safety procedures.

• Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.

• The ability to work collaboratively with staff and manage competing requests.

An enhanced DBS check will be required in line with the role.
