Role: Year 5 Class Teacher
Location: Sudbury, Suffolk
Contract: Full-time, fixed-term for two terms
Start Date: January 2027
Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience
A primary academy in Sudbury is seeking a Year 5 Teacher for a two-term appointment. The successful candidate will help pupils strengthen their subject knowledge and prepare for the increased expectations of Year 6.
The Role
Teach the Year 5 curriculum across core and foundation subjects.
Develop reading comprehension, extended writing and mathematical reasoning.
Plan lessons that encourage independence and critical thinking.
Assess pupils’ progress and identify areas requiring additional support.
Support pupils’ organisation, confidence and readiness for upper Key Stage 2.
Contribute to year-group planning and wider school activities.
The Candidate
Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Has experience teaching upper Key Stage 2 or a strong understanding of its curriculum.
Can maintain high expectations while supporting different ability levels.
Uses assessment effectively to inform planning.
The Environment
The academy encourages independent learning, collaborative planning and consistent teaching across the year group.
