Role: Teacher of History – KS3–KS4
Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
Contract: Full-time, maternity cover
Start Date: January 2027
Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience

A secondary school in Corby is seeking a History Teacher to cover a period of maternity leave from January 2027. The successful candidate will help pupils develop historical knowledge, evaluate evidence and produce well-supported written arguments.

The Role

  • Teach History across KS3 and KS4.

  • Deliver lessons on key historical periods, events and interpretations.

  • Develop source evaluation, chronology and extended-writing skills.

  • Support GCSE pupils with examination practice and revision.

  • Track pupil progress and provide targeted feedback.

  • Work with the department to maintain continuity of schemes of work.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has secure History subject knowledge.

  • Can make lessons engaging through discussion, evidence and historical enquiry.

  • Demonstrates effective planning and classroom management.

The school encourages curiosity, academic progress and collaboration between staff. The successful candidate will help maintain high-quality teaching during the maternity-cover period.
