Role: Teacher of History – KS3–KS4
Location: Royston, Hertfordshire
Contract: Full-time, fixed-term for one academic year
Start Date: January 2027
Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience

A secondary school in Royston is seeking a History Teacher for a one-year appointment beginning in January 2027. The school is looking for a teacher who can bring historical events to life and help pupils develop strong source-analysis and extended-writing skills.

The Role

  • Teach History across KS3 and KS4.

  • Deliver lessons covering significant historical periods, events and interpretations.

  • Develop pupils’ ability to evaluate sources and construct evidence-based arguments.

  • Support GCSE classes with examination technique and structured revision.

  • Monitor progress and provide clear, actionable feedback.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has secure historical subject knowledge.

  • Can explain complex events clearly and encourage thoughtful discussion.

  • Is confident managing classes and differentiating learning activities.
