Start Date: As soon as possible

School Information
A welcoming primary school in Warwick is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support its business and administration functions. The school is focused on providing a positive educational experience for its pupils and recognises that effective financial management is essential to the smooth running of its operations.
The successful candidate will join a supportive administrative team responsible for maintaining accurate records, processing transactions and ensuring that financial procedures are followed consistently. The school is looking for someone who takes pride in their work, handles confidential information appropriately and can manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with finance or accounts experience who would like to apply their skills within a school setting.
The Role
The Finance Assistant will provide day-to-day support with financial administration, helping to ensure that transactions are recorded accurately and payments are processed within the appropriate timescales.
Duties will include processing invoices, checking purchase orders, maintaining financial records and assisting with the reconciliation of accounts. The postholder will support the monitoring of expenditure against allocated budgets and help ensure that financial documentation is complete, accurate and readily available when required.
The role will also involve assisting with supplier payments, raising invoices where necessary and responding to routine finance queries from staff and external suppliers. The successful candidate will liaise with colleagues across the school to clarify purchase details, obtain supporting documentation and resolve discrepancies.
Additional responsibilities may include maintaining records of school purchases, supporting petty cash procedures, preparing information for financial reports and assisting with month-end processes. The Finance Assistant will be expected to follow established financial controls and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
As the role sits within a school environment, the postholder may also provide occasional administrative support to the wider office team. Flexibility, a methodical approach and the ability to work accurately under pressure will therefore be important.
Requirements
Applicants should have previous experience in finance, accounts or financial administration. A good understanding of invoice processing, purchase orders, reconciliations and record-keeping would be advantageous.
Strong numerical skills and attention to detail are essential, as is confidence using Microsoft Excel and other office-based systems. Candidates should be organised, dependable and comfortable working with deadlines.
Previous experience in a school, academy or public-sector finance department would be beneficial but is not essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate integrity, discretion and the ability to follow financial procedures carefully.
What the School Offers
The school provides a supportive working environment where the Finance Assistant can develop their skills and contribute to the effective management of school resources. The role offers varied responsibilities and the opportunity to gain further experience in educational finance and administration.
