A secondary and sixth-form setting in Peterborough is seeking a History Teacher for a two-term appointment beginning in January 2027. The school is looking for a teacher who can develop pupils' historical understanding, strengthen essay-writing skills and prepare older students for more advanced historical study.

The Role

• Teach History at KS4 and KS5, subject to experience and timetable requirements.

• Deliver lessons that develop knowledge of historical periods, interpretations and debates.

• Teach source evaluation, evidence selection and structured essay writing.

• Support examination preparation through regular practice and feedback.

• Monitor progress and provide academic guidance to students.

• Work with colleagues to maintain consistent assessment and curriculum standards.

The Candidate

• Holds QTS or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.

• Has strong History subject knowledge and confidence teaching older pupils.

• Can explain complex historical arguments clearly.

• Demonstrates high expectations and effective classroom organisation.
