Contract: Full-time, maternity cover

Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience

A community secondary school in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a motivated PE Teacher for January 2027. The successful candidate will deliver practical and classroom-based PE lessons, encourage participation and support pupils in developing their physical skills, teamwork and understanding of healthy lifestyles.

The Role

  • Teach PE across KS3 and KS4.

  • Deliver a range of practical activities in line with the school's curriculum and facilities.

  • Develop pupils' technical skills, fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship.

  • Teach relevant theoretical content and support examination classes where required.

  • Adapt activities to meet pupils' differing abilities and needs.

  • Contribute to fixtures, clubs and extracurricular sport where appropriate.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS and has a relevant PE teaching background.

  • Can manage practical lessons safely and effectively.

  • Encourages participation and positive behaviour.

  • Demonstrates strong organisation and communication skills.

The school values participation, personal development and teamwork. The successful candidate will work with the PE department to maintain a broad and inclusive programme during the maternity-cover period.
